Fighting for orphans

Today one of the guys I work with left for China to pick up Layla, his new little girl. Our team threw him a little shower last week and gathered around him and his wife to pray for their travels. Their blog is to the right.

My friend Heather, one of my favorite volunteers at Crossroads, is in Vietnam right now and just got to meet her daughter Norah for the very first time YESTERDAY. Here's a picture of Norah in the bathtub. Norah isn't an orphan anymore. She has a mom, a dad, and a big sister and big brother. It's really overwhelming thinking that Norah is being loved on and cared for by Heather and Jim right now. She has slept her last night in the orphanage. Yeah Jim and Heather!!!

It's kinda crazy having just two families in other countries meeting their kids - but we know five more families in Ukraine right now adopting their kids - so we're trying to keep up with SEVEN families who are half way around the world. All but one of these families are part of our church community, Crossroads. At least two more of our very favorite orphans have just ONE MORE night left in the orphanage. Anastasia is BESIDE herself. One of the kids coming home soon was one of her very closest friends from the orphanage - and he will be followed by several more kids from her orphanage (including 2 of her roommates).

Stephanie Heuerman just formed a new group on facebook for Crossroads folks interested in caring for orphans - holler if you want more info on it! It's fun having so many close friends who share our passion for these precious kids and who are doing something about it. Cool stuff.

Kim,
I just noticed my sweetie's picture on your blog. :) I consider myself lucky to be in the fight for orphans with you. After being here and seeing some things...if only I could bring more home.
See you soon...hugs,
Heather
