We found out on Friday that the earliest we would be able to get a court date would sometime after October 10. New laws have created some changes in the court system which is causing delays. As we had been gone over 4 weeks at this point, once we received this news we made reservations to come home the following day. Anastasia was a bit sad, but we got to spend LOTS of time with her on Friday and Saturday before our flight. She seems very confident that we will in fact come back to Kiev so we can bring her home to America. She's a tough little cookie and will probably do better during the wait than us! After a LONG flight and an unexpected overnight in New York due to a delayed flight and missed connection - WE ARE HOME!! Mike and Jennifer surprised us at the airport - which made us cry - probably due in part to days without sleep - but also cause we were so glad to see them. The kids picked us up - which was WONDERFUL!!!! We watched video of Anastasia and looked at pictures. Our kids did great thanks in HUGE part to the large number of people who have fed them, visited them, had them over . . . EACH of you has played a HUGE part in this process. THANK YOU SO MUCH for helping during our time away.
Please pray for our little girl as she waits for us to come back and get her. We have tickets on October 16 to return to Kiev and our tentative court date is October 18. We will have the mandatory 10 day wait after court - then we'll be able to head home!! What a day that will be. We are so thankful that GOd led us to our little girl. We are blessed!

And all Gods people said AMEN!!
Welcome home. I'm still praying for you all. Sad that you didn't get to bring your daughter home this time around, but next time you come home, your daughter will be with you.
We don't always understand why God does what he does, but His plans are perfect (and our's are not)and He has a reason for the extra couple weeks wait.
Thanks for sharing and let's keep on praying.

Woo hoo to you! It is such a pleasure to be able to sign your blog (even though we live across the street)...you have been such a source of comfort through our own little ordeal!
Let me just tell you how excited these three little girls are to have Anastasia as their new neighbor! I think Katie is selfishly glad because she thinks she is going to learn a new language! :) When Anastasia returns home (remember, the operative word is home...not when), she has a gift waiting for her across the street. I won't give it away, but let's just say it rhymes with "Darbie." :) And it is very pink (imagine that!). We are so looking forward to meeting Anastasia... please know how blessed we feel to live across the street from such a special family! You are always in our prayers,
The Bueckers
