Her New PINK Bike

We went and bought Anastasia a new pink bike yesterday. While we were in Kiev, we often passed a bike shop when she was with us - she always pointed it out, "LOOK - bike!" After several conversations about bikes, we found out that she has never riden a bike but would very much like to learn. So we talked about what kind of bike she would like - and she wants a PINK bike! When we found out we had to leave her behind we asked if she wanted to pick her bike out or did she want us to pick it out so it would be waiting for her when she came home - she wanted us to go ahead and get it. So we did! Two of our nieces helped us pick it out. Carter, Meredith, and Hannah took it for a test spin down the aisles of Walmart! We also asked Anastasia what she would like for us to bring back from America for her. She put her skinny little arms around both of our necks and said all she wanted was the two of us to come back! She has no materialistic wants. We passed a shoe store one day and I asked her what type of shoes she would like. She looked at me like I was crazy and pointed to the old gym shoes she had on and responded, "these!" She didn't need another pair of shoes as she already had a pair. Our facilitator is out of the region with another adoptive family, so we have not heard any news. We are waiting for our preliminary hearing on Oct. 14, that our facilitator will attend on our behalf for more details and confirmation of our Oct. 18 court date. Kim's sister is getting married on Nov. 19 - so we're really hoping to get over there and back! Thanks for your continued prayers for Anastasia as she waits for us. Our facilitator visited with her and her Grandma and said she is doing fine and is "waiting for us!" Pray for the court system in Ukraine too. This new civil code has slowed down all adoptions and many families are stranded in Ukraine or have had to come home without their children.
