Orphanage rooms

Here is one of the rooms at Anastasia's orphanage. Typically they don't even allow "outsiders" in the building, but we were there for SO LONG - by the end of the trip, we were even permitted to hang out in Anastasia's room. Here is a picture of one of her buddies, who lived in a room just a few doors down from her. All the rooms looked the same. The dresser you see holds all of their earthly possessions. They get one clean play outfit each Monday which they wore all week. Anastasia and her three roommates would trade and mix and match outfits throughout the week so that they would have something "new" to wear! The orphanage was very clean, but as you can see also very sparse. There was a "playroom" on each floor which had two couches and a rug - that's it! So you can imagine, when we'd arrive with some games to play, we would draw quite a crowd. The pillows look kind of odd - but this is how they make the beds in every orphanage I have seen in Ukraine!
