Phone Call

There is a little boy from Ukraine who will be in Anastasia's school here. His mom had offered (through the school principal) to assist us in any way. With the delay of the court hearing - AGAIN - I called her to ask if she could assist us in calling Grandma and Anastasia. This mom is ADORABLE! She was SO EXCITED to be able to help. So we set up a time to call. Grandma said that she is disappointed that the hearing was delayed, but has now "calmed down" - and will wait for as long as it takes. Anastasia is having a more difficult time. She is frustrated, impatient and sad that she will not be here for Christmas - join the club honey!! Mark and I each spoke to Anastasia. We pretty much just got one word answers to everything - but it was great to hear her sweet little voice. Yuri told Grandma that he is speaking with the judge on Monday. Grandma continues to get Anastasia out of the orphanage every weekend. The mom offered us cake at tea, so we had a nice visit. He son is very nice and polite - and also impatient about Anastasia's arrival. He would have preferred a boy - but will settle for a girl his own age from Ukraine. This mom said she will call and check in on Grandma this week - then will call again with us this weekend. We are very thankful to have met this family. Yuri told us on Tuesday that our court date will not be any later than January 16, as the date is now on some official court document. Also, said everything is in order so it should be a very short hearing - whatever!!! We are just a bit skeptical at this point in the process. Many families are now coming home from Ukraine without kids - which we can not even imagine how difficult that would be - so we're counting our blessings and the days till we head back over and fetch our girl!
