Hey all - well - guess you don't want to hear about our nice lunch with Yuri - two days in a row - or how beautiful the weather is!!!
Had a great night. We can't even believe how relaxed we are. Obviously we are not in control and that is reassuring! Well, we sat at the NAC for a few hours this morning. We moved from one waiting room to another - then finally they called us in. The lady at the NAC was VERY NICE! She just set us up at a table and had us look through books. Mark and I laughed cause we studied EVERY PAGE - but could read NOTHING!!! Found a couple that were possibilities - then Yuri kind of skipped over a girl that he said was healthy - but I noticed that her birthdate was SEPTEMBER 9 - and for those of you who don't know - we have LOTS of September birthdays. So after we went through binder, Mark and I asked to go back to her. Her name is Anastasia. SHe will be 10 on Sept. 9. Her dad died in 1999, and custody was taken away from her mom in 2002. Her grandma (dad's mom) kept her until 2003, but she - grandma - is in very bad health, so could not continue to keep her. Anastasia is healthy and only problem is anemia - which we can certainly fix that with some good home cooked meals!! Yuri keeps telling us that this is not a decision =- just another step in the process. She is here in Kiev which makes things MUCH simpler logistically. SHe has a school at her orphanage. They called the orphanage director and she said that ANastasia is a "good girl" and her grandma is a "good grandma" but grandma wants her to be adopted. She does not have any siblings.
So we are trying to contain our excitement - which is really really hard. Possible obstacles would be grandma or child saying she does not want to be adopted. It is a very positive thing that she has been in orphanage such a short time and that she has lived in a family situation.
We will pick up referral paperwork from NAC tomorrow - WED - then will hopefully be able to visit her after she gets out of school on Thursday! WOW!
Again - thanks for your continued prayers
