Happy Independence Day

Hey - it's 4th of July in Ukraine! We think of it more as Groundhog's day - if you haven't seen the movie, you won't get the joke! Well, we feel like we're doing it all. Yesterday we rode the metro (subway), city bus, and some goofy tram like thing that took us from top of hill down to waterfront. Also rode the LONGEST escalator I have ever been on. THREE TIMES as long as the big one at CVG and moves at about 3X faster. I wish I'd had my dramamine with me cause I could have used it.
Boyd - our new best friend - bought "Call of the wild" yesterday. Totally cracked us up - it was one of the few English books he could find and he was disgusted that it was in the "foreign language" section of the bookstore! Mark was kind of jealous that Boyd had a new book and offered him a 10% markup to buy it from him. We're on our own today. Yuri is visiting his dad for his birthday and Victoria is spending day with her family. We will stay downtown for a little bit - then head up to BEAUTIFUL park - really big - closer to our apartment. We have walked a TON! The ladies here wear spike heels with pointy toes and walk everywhere. Prayer requests - we would be SO HAPPY if we could get an appointment on FRIDAY when director returns - early in week would be good too! Our kids back home start school today. Pray for that little kid who we are about to snatch out of the only world that is familiar to them. Got the sweetest note from my sister Kris about the empty bed in our apartment - we can't wait to have someone in it - if we're here much longer, I might just put Mark in it!! The time difference - for our Cint/Ky friends - add SEVEN hours to your current time. For our Nashville pals - add 8! Oh when we do get our appointment, we are requesting an 8 - 10 year old girl, but the age is a more important factor than the sex of the child.
Well gotta run - have such a busy day :) and must get ready for our dinner at pizza place with Boyd and Kirsten tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANKS THANKS THANKS for your notes and emails - and Jennifer can you believe I haven't had any chocolate!
Love Kim and Mark

Whoooo hooo you don't sound as stressed as I thought you were. No chocolate or ice cream. Sounds like you and Mark are having a mini honeymoon. Whats with the girl thing? Not that it matters, I will have to go out and get Carter and Wes some beads so they can start practicing that kind of stuff.

Well, well . . . so you're a chocoholic!! Me too. Wayne & C. told us Ukraine has the best ice-cream. I don't understand the problem with getting a girl--our home study agency works with other agencies and couples who get girls from Ukraine all the time without a problem. Hang in there--we're stacking you up with prayers!
