Well, she's done TWO FULL DAYS OF SCHOOL!! She loves her teacher and has made some new friends. I'd post more pictures - but they all look the same cause she wears the same pink outfit EVERY DAY (I wash it every other day!!) She's been wearing those boots that we sent her back in October (and they look and smell like they haven't been off her feet since then) - but today she agreed to go to the shoe store. I suggested that she get some white shoes like the other girls in her class - and she said "what about new PINK shoes?" So after looking at MANY shoes, she selected a pair of gym shoes - they are actually black, but have sparkles and pink and purple on them. Then we went to the grocery. She ran into one of her classmates and it was like two long lost sisters (you'd have never guessed they saw each other just an hour ago). It was pretty cute. She went out with Lena, Robert and Vlad (Lena and Vlad are from Ukraine) for dinner a few nights ago. They stopped at WalMart and Lena wanted to buy her a new purse - guess what color Anastasia picked - yep, PINK!!! She carries it with her everywhere.
One funny - she wrote Mark and me notes last night - they said, "I love you mom. I love you Ted!!" She thinks Dad is prounounced TED! She continues to adjust so much better than we ever dreamed. Rachel, Wesley and Carter are still being very patient with thier little sister.

Kim and Mark,
This is the first chance I've had to get on your blog and spend some quality time reading and looking.
Anastasia seems very happy and is a beautiful child.
I am so very happy for your entire family. I see God's hand everywhere in this. From Him tugging at your heart to start the process to Him choosing Anastasia to be with your family, to Him giving you the courage and strength to continue through the process.
Without the PERSONAL involvement of God, your family would not have been complete.
As I'm writing this, I keep thinking of that old song "Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world". This is one little girl that is absolute proof of the truth of those words.
I believe God wants Anastasia with your family. He has a plan that none of you may know for years to come. Rest assured that God would not have worked as hard as he did to set up this wonderful addition to your family if he did not have an even grander plan. I believe He does. I have not a clue what His plan is, but I do know that God is not in the business of wasting His effort.
Kim, it's been a long time coming for you and I know how much this all means to you.
I want to close this by saying again how truly happy I am for you and your family.

Hi Kim and Mark!
We are continuing to pray for and rejoice with you! I agree with what Jeff S. said. We too felt God's call and aid in adopting our daughter. By the way, she was also "the Pink Princess" for a while. She then moved to blue, and now her favorite color is lime green. You are fortunate that Anastasia works so hard to adjust. Our daughter did not think she needed to learn English at first, because she was planning to return to Ukraine. She doesn't feel that way now, but I guess it was a tribute to her good treatment at the orphanage and her loyalty to her friends there. Also, she did not have a lot of mental preparation, like Anastasia has. We're so happy for you all! The Laceys
Kim - I'm almost crying here reading your story. I apologize for not keeping up with you since your return. Life can be a bit hectic with a new "baby", can't it?
So much of Anastasia's new life in America exactly corresponds to Natasha's. It has been fun reading and remembering what Nat was like that first month. They even look a bit alike, tho Natasha wants to do everything exactly like her brother, so PINK is NOT her color. Jeans and grungy tennis shoes for her!
I can't find your email address. Please keep in touch! God bless you all in every way!
